The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, May 02, 2012 Billy Gene Whorton Billy was born May 5, 1932, in London, Ark., and went peacefully to be with Jesus on April 28, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Suzanne Whorton; daughter, Lori Harrison (Steve); son Dan Whorton (Donna); twin brother, Bob Whorton (Karen); younger sister, Sandy Gardner (Dallas); 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren. In passing, he is joyfully reunited with his eldest son, Wes Whorton, who passed away in 2002. A resident of Prescott Valley, Ariz., since 1994, Bill spent most of his life in California, and a few years in Tucson, Ariz. Bill was an aerospace engineer by trade, but his life's pursuit was to honor God and serve others. His gentle spirit, humility and quiet wisdom were apparent to all who knew him; his sense of humor and calm demeanor was a delight to all he encountered. His passing leaves us deeply grieving, yet also rejoicing in that he has accomplished his life's goal - He lived well, was a Godly example in both life and death, and is now in the very presence of his precious Lord. A memorial service in celebration of Billy's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Calvary Chapel of Prescott Valley, 2313 E. State Route 69, Prescott, AZ 86301; (928) 778-7642.
