WILSON, Charles Dale


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Wednesday, May 2, 2012 - Charles Dale Wilson passed away April 25, 2012 in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 60. Chuck, as he was known to his family and friends, was born on Nov. 4, 1951, in South Gate, Calif., to Dale and Ruth Wilson. Following high school graduation, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country in the Vietnam War from May 23, 1969 to Dec. 23, 1971. Chuck also served in the National Guard. Chuck and his wife, Echo, relocated to Lake Havasu City 15 years ago and together they logged many miles as a truck-driving team. Chuck was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. Chuck is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 25 years, Echo; son, Toby Freestone and his wife, Suzie, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; daughter, Jamie Morgado and her husband, Carlos, of Paso Robles, Calif.; mother, Ruth Griffis, of Lake Havasu City; stepmother, Betty Wilson, of Homeland, Calif.; brothers, Mark Griffis and his wife, Teri, of Lake Havasu City, and Earl Wilson and his wife, Lili, of Lake Havasu City; sisters, Kathy Bloomer and her husband, Duane, of Lake Havasu City, Rose Wilson, of Lake Havasu City, Teres Petterson, of Homeland, Calif., Dorothy Shook, of Boise, Idaho; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also leaves behind many adoring nephews and nieces and close friends. A celebration of Chuck's life will be May 12, at 1 p.m., at the Aquatic Center. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post 9401 and American Legion Post 81. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chuck's name may be made to the Western Arizona Humane Society 1100 Empire Drive, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404.
