(Maiden Name: Zekas)
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/04/2012
Janet Margaret Critser, 59, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at her home in Show Low. She was born Sept. 23, 1952, to Alfred and Margaret (Barlas) Zekas in Steubenville, Ohio. She was the younger of two children.
Throughout her life, Janet always valued and enjoyed education. In high school, Janet was a member of The National Honor Society and the Future Teacher Program. She prided herself in education, earning a Masters of Science of Education and fulfilling her dream of becoming an educator. Janet started teaching at Northland Pioneer College (NPC) in 1988 where she later became an academic advisor and touched the lives of many students. She enjoyed assisting, supporting and empowering students in the development and attainment of educational plans that are compatible to their life goals.
The one thing she loved more than education was her family. She gave life to a son and three daughters, whom she raised in the White Mountains of Arizona. Janet will be forever missed and loved by all who knew her, especially her children.
Janet is survived by her son, Josh; three daughters: Amy Tafoya, Beth Critser, Emily Critser; sister Frances Seighman; and granddaughter, Kinsley Tafoya. She is also survived by her beloved pets: Patch, Gizmo and May.
“A mother holds her children’s hands for a short while, but she holds their hearts forever.”
