William T. McDonough, 77, passed away surrounded by his family May 1, 2012. William was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Woburn, Mass., to Joseph and Margaret McDonough and was the loving husband of Barbara (Woods) McDonough, with whom he had celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Bill, or “Red,” was a member of Operating Engineers Local 4 for 43 years and former member of the executive board. He also worked as a part-time real estate agent for Century 21 in Chelmsford, Mass.
Barbara and Bill moved to Lake Havasu City, spending summers in Maine. He enjoyed driving the bus to casinos in Nevada and a trolley in Massachusetts.
A devoted member of the Catholic Church, Bill was a faithful servant of many parishes; his faith in God was strong and he passed that along to all of his family.
As a 4th degree member of the K of C Council 4978, Burlington, Mass., he rose through all the chairs to Grand Knight and then District Deputy.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, Bill is survived by his children, William T. (Susan) McDonough, of Cave Creek, and children Benjamin and Katelyn; Julie (Peter) Scali, of Las Vegas, Nev., and children David and Lori Markley; Joyce McDonough, of Scottsdale, and children Jessica and Christopher Kulish; Barbara (Brad) Ross, of Methuen, Mass., and children Tyler and Allison; and Brenda (Jim) Limperis, of Methuen, Mass., and children Emma, Billy and Jenna; and two great-grandchildren, Ayden and Ashlyn; brothers, Joseph (Judi), of North Carolina, John (Colleen), of Winchester, Mass., Gerald (Reta) of Woburn, Mass., Michael (Marilyn) of Woburn, Mass.; and his sister, Ann, of Conroe, Texas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by many friends from Massachusetts and Arizona.
A memorial service will take place at Our Lady of the Lake on Monday at 11 a.m. with Father Chauncey officiating. A service will be in Massachusetts at a later date.
