The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 05/08/2012 Benjamin F. Hill, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at his home in Springerville. He was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Springerville, the son of Joseph Florencio and Eufelia Moya Hill. Benjamin was a civil engineer for the U.S. Forest Service and the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest, for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend to all that knew him. Benjamin was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting and golfing. He was also an active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Hill of Springerville; children: Benjamin (Shanan) Hill, Jr. of Chandler; JoEvelyn (Greg) Etter of Boerne, Texas; Patricia Reza of Springerville; Henrietta (Donovan) Thornhill of Payson; Tomas (Michelle) Hill of Mesa; and eight grandchildren: Ross, Robert, Claire, Cheryl, Jessica, J.B., Quincy and Lily. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Summit Healthcare Oncology Department, 2500 Hunt Dr. Ste. 1, Show Low, Ariz. 85901 Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson Fermin Alex. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, with a funeral mass following at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Springerville.
