MAYNARD, Elizabeth Pauline

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, May 07, 2012 Elizabeth Pauline Maynard was born Dec. 3, 1962, in Tucson, Ariz., where she was raised and attended school. She went to be with Jesus on April 19, 2012, in Prescott, Ariz. Elizabeth is survived by her son Cody, who she often described as her gift from God, (Tricia and granddaughter Samantha); three brothers Tony, Robin and Hank; and one very close nephew, Hank Jr. Elizabeth worked in the Safeway bakery department and spoke often of her joy in making doughnuts and bread. Everything Elizabeth did, she did with spunk, energy and enthusiasm whether it was work, volunteering or raising her son. After becoming disabled, Elizabeth dedicated her life to those who struggle with life's issues. CASA was an organization close to her heart in which she dedicated many hours advocating for children in need of protection. Here she received the 'CASA of the Year' award. Elizabeth also put her heart and soul into the Celebrate Recovery program by faithfully sponsoring many women and cooking weekly meals. Those who knew her well can still hear her say, "How can I help you?" Most important to Elizabeth was her faith in Jesus and her involvement with her church family and friends with love and forgiveness front and center in all her relationships. She will be remembered for her generosity in serving others and her clear example of letting God make good out of the many trials that came her way. She taught us much about living a positive and fruitful life and was a true example of the Serenity Prayer - accepting hardship as a pathway to peace. She knew that whether she lived or died soon, she'd won the race. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at American Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1085 Scott Drive in Prescott. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Evangelical Lutheran Church to support the Cursillo (a week-end course in living the Christian life) Community of AELC of which Elizabeth was an enthusiastic and encouraging member. Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. Information provided by survivors.
