Joan Odelia (Doll) Tapia, 71, was called by God on Saturday, May 5, 2012, in Kingman with her family by her side. Joan was born Dec. 14, 1940, in Perham, Minn. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Doll; and three of her brothers, Herb, Vernon and August Doll.
Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Jose F. "Leo" Tapia; her daughter, Veronica "Cricket" Tapia and Reason; her two sons, Corey and Casey Tapia; her granddaughter, Brianna Tapia; her sisters, Rose (Romy) Wegscheid, Marie Griffith and Pauline (John) Craig; her brothers, Adrian (Dorothy) Doll, Tom (Lozetta) Doll, Willie (Sheri) Doll and Don (Monica) Doll; and many nieces and nephews.
Joan graduated from a Catholic high school in Havre, Mont. She moved to Kingman in 1961 where she lived and worked with her oldest sister Rose at The Market Basket. Joan continued her career as a bank teller at Navajo Bank and Great Western Bank. In 1963 she married the love of her life. Prior to having her own children she was a foster parent to three different children. In 1965 she started her own family and was a wonderful mother and housewife. Joan enjoyed spending time in her garden and reading books. She also loved to help and spend time with her friends and family.
A Rosary and visitation will be held in her memory at 5 p.m. Friday, May 11, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave. A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 302 E. Spring St.
