Doris J. Lee, 81, slipped away quietly during the early morning hours of May 6, 2012 to join Ben, her beloved husband of 53 years, who preceded her in death nine years ago.
Doris is also reunited with her parents, E.H. and Ruth Parish and her brother, Donald Richard Parish. Doris was born in Southwest City, Mo., but lived in Jay, Okla., then Phoenix, Ariz., and again in Southwest City, before moving back to Phoenix in 1947. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1948 and married Benson E. Lee Jr. in 1949. Together they raised three sons and a daughter in Phoenix, before retiring to Prescott, Ariz.
Doris did hold a couple of jobs for a few years, but her focus was primarily on her family and her church. She and her family attended Southern Temple Baptist Church and Royal Palms Baptist Church in Phoenix, and Willow Hills Baptist Church in Prescott. Doris moved back to the valley a few years ago and bought a home in Gilbert to be near family again.
Doris leaves behind her daughter Sharon Sprinkle (Richard); her sons Daniel, David (Monique), Douglas (Melissa); her sister Neva Edwards (Rod). Doris also leaves 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She will be missed. Just hours before she passed, she told her sister Neva, "I'm moving to heaven and I'm not taking anything with me." Amen.
A memorial service and grave dedication to celebrate Doris' life was on Monday, May 14, 2012 at Resthaven Park Mortuary & Cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz.
Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Resthaven Park Mortuary & Cemetery, www.resthavenpark.com, in Phoenix, Ariz.
