George Francis Hubach, age 70, a 7-year resident of Bullhead City, Ariz., passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012, in Tampa, Fla.
George was born in Lorain, Ohio on March 27, 1942. He graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1960, where he was a member of the championship wrestling team.
George enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960, and served his country during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Bainbridge and the USS Enterprise as an electronics technician. While aboard the USS Enterprise, George made history, being a crew member of the world's first nuclear powered ship. He left the Navy in 1968, and worked as an electrician at the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company, before retiring from the B.F. Goodrich Chemical Plant in 2002.
George was an avid golfer, boater, fisherman and bowler. He was an active participant in his local veterans' organizations.
George will be greatly missed and remembered as a true friend and wonderful family man.
He is survived by his wife Karen, of Bullhead City, Arizona, two sons, Sonny and Ed; two daughters, Lisa and Lee; two stepchildren; three brothers, Phil, Nick, and Don; and two sisters, Mary and Loretta, eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held in Avon, Ohio at a later date.
