The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona April 2011 Gilbert J. "Gil" Simmons 74, of Surprise, AZ passed away on April 6, 2011. Gil passed away on April 6th surrounded by his family. Born November 21, 1936 Hebron,NE. to Jeanette and Arnold Dunse. He married Barbara Brokaw in Great Bend KS July 22, 1956. They moved to AZ in 1957. He was an Army Veteran. He loved people and never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife, son Mark (Lisa), daughter Susan (Dave), 4 grandchildren, brothers Steve and Arnold Jr. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Herb and Doug. Celebration of Gil's life will be held at Foothills Christian Church at 1030am, 3951 W. Happy Valley Rd., Glendale. Interment will be at Veterans Memorial at a later date.
