ARNOLD, SR., George Franklin


West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona Friday, May 18, 2012 George Franklin Arnold Sr., 84, of Amarillo, Texas, and formerly Buckeye died May 2, 2012, in Amarillo. Mr. Arnold was born Oct. 16, 1927, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Lee and Lillie. He grew up in Buckeye, where he attended school. He served in the Army. He moved to Amarillo where he worked as a bricklayer. He received a gold card and life pin from the International Union of Bricklayers for 50 consecutive years of service. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Thelma; three daughters, Susan Kaye Thomas of Dallas, Darlene Dunn of Dallas and Christine Cardenas of Amarillo; one son, Edward of Amarillo; one sister, Edna Trinhaile of Colorado; four brothers, Clemie of Litchfield Park, Bill of Goodyear, Kenneth of Goodyear and David of Goodyear; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held May 5 at the Boxwell Brothers Funeral Ivy Chapel in Amarillo. The Rev. G.A. Roach officiated. Interment with military honors was conducted at Amarillo Liano East Cemetery.
