Douglas Stewart Hall, 89, was born on Sept. 12, 1922 and died May 19, 2012. Doug was born in Stamford, Conn.
He came to Tucson, Ariz., in 1941 where he met and married Jean, his wife of 67 years. His family includes his wife Jean; his daughters Alice, Linda and Kathryn (Dave) and their families. He has seven grandchildren, including Christopher and David who grew up in Prescott; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Margery; and many nieces and nephews. Additionally, Doug leaves many dear friends, including Bob and Evelyn, and other good friends he made playing bridge and square and round dancing.
Doug graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and also studied at Yale University, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and the University of Arizona. He worked for Exxon until he retired in 1986. Upon retirement, he and Jean retired to Prescott from the Phoenix area and he immediately became active volunteering in the community. Among the places he volunteered were Community Cupboard, Prescott People Who Care, and the Prescott Public Library, but closest to his heart was Meals on Wheels. He delivered meals from 1986 to 2011. In continuation of his spirit of service to his community, Doug has donated his body to the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Services to celebrate Doug's life will be at American Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. on June 1, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals on Wheels, Prescott People Who Care or Marley House Hospice.
