Lavinia Ann Stewart passed away May 19, 2012 in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 87. Ann was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Kansas City, Kan., to Earl and Maud (Adkins) Smith.
Ann, as she was known by her family and friends, met her soul mate, Rex Stewart, in high school in Lansing, Kan. They were married for a wonderful 63 years; Rex passed in 2007. After Rex’s retirement from the FAA, they moved to Lake Havasu City in 1976, where it was their beloved home for 35 years. Ann was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was very active in the Lake Havasu Genealogical Society, Daughters of American Revolution, Colonial Dames XVII Century, St. Michael’s United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Ann is survived by children, Susan LeCou, of Lake Havasu City, James (Gretchen) Stewart, of Zionsville, Ind.; and grandchildren, Patrick LeCou, of Riverside, Calif., Laura Stewart, of Topeka, Kan., Kristen Stewart, of Indiana, Andrew Stewart, of Zionsville, Ind., and Alexandra Stewart, of Zionsville, Ind. Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Rex M. Stewart; and their son, Wayne Stewart.
Local memorial services are pending at St. Michaels United Methodist Church in Lake Havasu City, with a graveside service to be later in Leavenworth, Kan.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ann’s name to Lake Havasu City Genealogical Society, St. Michael’s United Methodist Church, New Hope Hospice, or Serenity House Care Center.
