SUMMERS, Jerry


Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on May 25, 2012 - Jerry Summers was born Feb. 7, 1935, in Canalou, Mo., and passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012, in Chloride, Arizona. Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He held memberships with both the Freemasons and the VFW. After the Navy, he worked as an aviation mechanic and pilot, flying private jets, and built his own plane while living in Arizona. While living in Salida, Colo., he built, sold and flew ultralights with his son Michael. He loved to hunt and fish, often taking his family on impromptu camping trips. He later became an inspector for the FAA in Las Vegas. Jerry retired in Chloride, where he loved to sit on his porch, watch the birds, and wave to everyone who passed by. Jerry is survived by his sister, Bonnie Sue Orvis; his brother, Don Summers of Oklahoma; his daughters, Diane Kegebein and Jennifer Smith of Arizona; and his son, Michael Summers of Nevada. He has eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren (all of whom invaded his home in Chloride each Thanksgiving!). He is loved and will be missed. Memorial services will be held at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd. in Boulder City, Nev.
