A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Malpais Room at the Peaks, 3150 N. Winding Brook Road, in Flagstaff. Lozano's Flagstaff Mortuary is handling arrangements ~~~~~~~~~~~ Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Friday, June 01, 2012 Deane McLure Hargrave April 3, 1931 – May 29, 2012 A longtime resident of Flagstaff, AZ, Deane was born and raised in west Texas. She earned her bachelor and masters degrees from NAU, her PhD from ASU, and was a professor of English at NAU for over 30 years before retiring to the Cottonwood/Clarkdale area. She was affectionately known to her students as Dr. Hargrave and cherished the 100+ letters from former students attributing their success, in large part, to the difference she made in their lives. She is the daughter of the late Charles E. and Dessie Dean (Evans) McLure and sister of the late Emma Lou Williamson. She is survived by her brother Charles E. McLure, Jr. (Patsy) and daughters Deanna (Ken) Kemling-Mortara of Tucson, Robynn Wilson Stoneberger (Charlie) Kleck of Flagstaff, and Nancy Wilson (Edgar) Monroy of Jamul, CA. She had nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She spent the last year of her life at the Peaks in Flagstaff where she made numerous new friends among the residents and staff. Deane touched the lives of many in the community through participation in child advocacy, mentoring, and even offering her home as shelter to those in need. Through her work with the Cottonwood Meals-On-Wheels program she met Ferenc Fazekas, her late husband. Among the joys of her life were her dog Lady Butterscotch (Butter) and the scores of birds, squirrels, and quail she loved to feed in her backyard. A celebration of Deane’s life will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 1st at the Peaks, 3150 N. Winding Brook Rd., Flagstaff.
