PROCHNOW, Dorian Richard

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/01/2012 Dorian Richard Prochnow, 62, of Springerville passed away comfortably at home May 22, 2012, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Dorian was born March 4, 1950, to Herman and Gladys Prochnow in South Milwaukee, Wis. He graduated from Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills, Wisconsin in 1968. He entered the Marine Corps. in 1969 and served three years. In Dec. 1972, he married Sandra Maitland. Dorian had a wandering spirit and loved to try all that life had to offer. He was a draftsman, a foreman, a farmer and a truck driver. He loved to travel, and in 1997 he moved to Arizona to satisfy the cowboy within. For the past 12 years he spent his summers working for Emulsion Products in North Pole, Alaska, while wintering in Arizona. He was a modern day frontiersman who enjoyed the wilderness of Alaska and rugged beauty of Arizona. Everywhere Dorian went, he made friends. Dorian loved the Lord, his family and his friends. He was entrepreneurial, and could often be found with a notebook, working on a new idea. When he wasn’t outside working on a project, he’d be inside enjoying a Western. During the winter he’d enjoy shredding the dunes with his sons, watching the Packers or hanging out on a fishing boat chasing the elusive walleye. Dorian is survived by his wife, Sandra; four children: Marcie (Tim) Olsen, Ty (Jennifer) Prochnow, Tad (Stephanie) Prochnow, and Bethany (Matthew) Frye; eight grandchildren: Jamie Olsen, Tyler Olsen, Logan Prochnow, Bryce Olsen, Josie Frye, Isaac Prochnow, Madison Frye, and Olivia Prochnow; brother Dennis (Diane) Prochnow; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Dorian was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Gary. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Calvary Hills Christian Fellowship in Springerville.
