WILTON, Jackie

(Maiden Name: Lee)

Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Sunday, June 03, 2012 Jackie Wilton, 84, died on May 10, 2012, on a lovely Morro Bay day. Jackie was born in San Jose, California, the only child of Mabel and Earl Lee. She graduated from San Jose High School and went on to San Jose State, where she had so many fond memories of working as a secretary for the athletic department. Jackie longed for adventure and became a Gray Lady with the Red Cross. While stationed on Okinawa, she met her future husband, Otis (Bo) Wilton. They were married in 1954 and had four children, including Jean, who died the day after she was born. Jackie continued her love of travel as an Army wife. She and Otis and their family lived in Germany for 2½ years and enjoyed traveling through Europe, especially along the Rhine River visiting castles and picnicking. Jackie “bloomed where she was planted,” be it Southern California, Flagstaff, Arizona, or Morro Bay. She spent most of her working life as an executive secretary and was an avid walker and reader, almost to the end. Her retirement years were spent volunteering, traveling, and spending time with her family. Later in her life she took up crossword puzzles, to stimulate her “once fine mind.” Jackie is survived by her children, Sally and husband Tracy, Pete, and Katie; grandchildren, Jake and wife Gina, Bret, Shel, Seth, and Quinn; and great-grandson, Jack, Jake and Gina’s son. Jackie leaves behind so many others whose lives she touched. There are no words to describe how we will miss her sweet smile and her genuine kindness. Bye now, Jackie. Contributions can be made in Jackie’s name to Hospice Partners of the Central Coast, 277 South St., Ste. R, San Luis Obispo, 93401; or any veterans’ charity. A private memorial will be held.
