Greer's Mortuary of Winslow, Winslow, Arizona Lupe Gonzales May 19, 2012 THE LILY OF THE VALLEY, THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR Maria de Guadalupe 'Lupe' Gonzales Guadalupe 'Lupe' Gonzales, 85, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on May 19, 2012. She was born on September 1, 1926 and lived all her life in Winslow, AZ. She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 62 years Ambrosio "Andy" Gonzales, two sons, Richard (Becky) Gonzales of Flagstaff, Mark Gonzales of Prescott Valley and her youngest sister Virginia Hernandez of Winslow. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christopher (Dawn) of Ahwatukee, Cory (Kristina) of Phoenix, Casey (Corrie) of Flagstaff, Carrie Gonzales of San Diego, CA., Kylie, Andie and Sydney Gonzales of Prescott Valley, six great grandchildren, 25 nephews and nieces and numerous great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Octaviano and Rita Hernandez, brothers Henry, Joe and Eugene Hernandez, sisters Francis, Margaret, Nellie Hernandez and Emily Palacios, all of Winslow. Lupe and Andy were married in Winslow on June 5, 1950 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. They lived and raised two sons in the house they built together brick by brick. She was a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed cooking traditional Mexican style foods. She always had a pot of beans with red or green chili, fresh tortillas and a pot of coffee ready for anyone who happened to stop by for a visit. She loved to dance, sing or whistle and listen to music while cooking or cleaning her home. She loved being outdoors, working in the yard and tending the garden alongside her husband, crocheting, embroidery, shopping and visiting with friends and family. She enjoyed the beauty and fragrance of fresh cut flowers and always displayed them on the dining room table for all to enjoy. She especially enjoyed watching her sons and grand kids play ball and she was always in the stands cheering them on. She was an affectionate and compassionate caring person and had a sweet spirit about her wherever she went. Her rich sense of humor made everyone laugh and put a smile on their face. Her home always had a sense of peace and security to all who entered. She will be truly missed by her family and everyone who knew and loved her. Friends and family viewing will be Saturday, May 26 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Greer's Mortuary followed by a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
