Elizabeth S. “Betty” Mills, born February 23, 1927 in Inspiration, Arizona passed away peacefully on February 23, 2012, at her home in Lakeland, Tennessee.
Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband Larry Edward Mills.
Mrs. Mills is survived by her four children: Mary Kathryn Mills of St. Louis, Missouri; Karen M. Reid (Stetson) of Almagorodo, New Mexico; Charles Edward Mills of Jacksonville, Florida; and Elizabeth Ann Mills of Lakeland, Tennessee.
Mrs. Mills graduated from Stephens College, the University of Missouri-Columbia, and Northern Arizona University. She spent over 36 years teaching elementary students in grades K-6, and she helped to prepare future teachers as a mentor and supervising teacher. Mrs. Mills was a gifted artist and enjoyed meeting new people and visiting new places. She was devoted to her church: she valued the people she met and the service she was able to give to her church. However, she always proclaimed her proudest accomplishments were being a wife and mother.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at St Philip Episcopal Church in Bartlett, Tennessee. An open House will be held at the family home on Friday, June 8, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri 65215, in the name of Elizabeth S. Mills designated for the Education Fund.
