Ruth "Granny" Rosen of Kingman returned to the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2012 after battling a long illness. She was in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving husband and family. Born Feb. 7, 1938, in Omaha, Neb., to Charles and June Dishong, she was a 27-year resident of Kingman. During her final days, many conversations took place about the joy of her being reunited with her parents and her daughters, Deborah and Darlene, who preceded her in death.
In addition to her being the matriarch of the family, the great peacekeeper, and the great and powerful OZ, she still enjoyed many roles in the community including special education class grandmother at Hualapai Elementary School. She was the organizer of numerous school functions and the surrogate grandmother to multiple generations of children while parents spent time at the ballpark. She could always be counted on to be the person to give your new baby its first taste of Red Vine licorice and to make sure no child ever ran with an Astro Pop.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard; her daughter, Diana and Dan Jaquez; her son, Darel and Annie Fruhwirth; and Florence Dishong, Joy Larsen, Charlotte and Denny Trip of Omaha, Neb.; her grandchildren, Shelby and Dyan Sinclair, Vanessa Kogianes, Joseph Norbert Jr., Socrates and Erica Kogianes, Angie Pierce, Sheri Fruhwirth, Ryan Fruhwirth and Erika Shoaf, Kendra and Micah Hamilton, Roy and Ryane Jaquez, Katie and Trey Kyle; 15 great-grandchildren; and too many nieces and nephews to count.
When someone passes, it may sound cliché to say "they touched so many lives," but this sentiment was actually written for Grandma Rosen. There are no sufficient words to express our gratitude for the kindness and comfort provided by the numerous nurses, doctors, social workers, and chaplains from the KRMC Hospice and Assisted Hospice of Ventura, Calif. They allowed her final days to be filled with dignity and comfort. Services will be held at noon Saturday, June 9, at Grace Lutheran Church, 2101 Harrison St.
