Mary Darline Cooprider (Pat) age 94, peacefully passed on to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 19th, 2012. She was born the third of four children on April 23rd, 1918 in Sawyer Kansas, to the late Tom and Emma Patterson. She is preceded in death by her husband James Cooprider, son Duane Long and brother Bill (Pat) Patterson. She will be sorely missed by her surviving sons; Ron Bunyan, Jerry Long, Dan Cooprider and Robert Cooprider, her brothers Joel Patterson and Jim Patterson as well as 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A resident of Phoenix for 58 years, she was a beautician who made the news when she introduced a mobile beauty salon to patients in St. Joseph and Good Samaritan Hospitals in 1955. She grew up loving the horses her dad raised and raced. She always fondly recalled her time on the farm in Kansas as well as the time spent with her favorite Aunt/Nanny (Barb). Her life on the farm helped her develop a strong work ethic and determination to provide for her boys. She was known as being fiercely loyal to her family and friends. She became a surrogate mother to many. One of her gifts was the way she could make a person feel they were special and loved. Her sense of humor often led to fits of laughter especially with her grandchildren. When she became homebound, God placed a number of "angels" in her life that became constant companions including her brother Jimmy and wife Linda, granddaughter Michelle, and best friend and neighbor Paul. A memorial service is planned in the Calvary Chapel, Saturday at 10:00am May 26th 12612 N. Black Canyon Highway (between Cactus and Thunderbird on west side). She will be interred with her husband, James Cooprider at the VA National Cemetery. Flowers should be sent to 'Darline Cooprider' at the church address above.
