The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona September 2006 Andrew Gilbert, Jr., 70, of Phoenix, passed away on September l7, 2006. Mr. Gilbert is survived by his daughters, Thereisa (Clayton) Ausmus and Debbie (Raymond) Mesquita, grandchildren, Kyle, Kaitlynn, Jennifer and Josh, sister, Hattie Halifax and numerous nieces and nephews as well as friend and former wife, Rose (O.G.). Andrew was born in Phoenix and was a l954 graduate of Phoenix Union High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. After many years in the food and grocery industry he retired from Shamrock Foods. His pride and joy was his fruit trees and gardening. He fought a courageous seven month battle with cancer. A special thanks to Papa's nurse Jenny and his favorite CNA's, Debbie and Jennifer and nursing staff at Cook's Health Care. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 22, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Phoenix Memorial Mortruary, 200 W. Beardsley Rd. A visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow at Phoenix Memorial Park.
