The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Saturday, June 23, 2012 Terry Todd Stewart, 68, of Sedona, passed away June 20, 2012. Terry was born October 28, 1943, in Los Angeles, CA, to William “Bill” and Evelyn Todd. The family moved to Oak Creek Canyon in 1945 so Bill could help his parents build Todd’s Lodge, now known as Garland’s Lodge. Terry attended Sedona Elementary School, Flagstaff High School, and Northern Arizona University. In 1967, Terry worked as a dental assistant in Sedona. After moving to Flagstaff, she began her long career with Flagstaff Medical Center as an inhalation therapist. During her 35 years of service, she held nine positions and was instrumental in the growth of FMC to what is now known as Northern Arizona Healthcare. Terry oversaw the design and construction of the Taylor House in Flagstaff as well as the Women’s Center. She retired from NAH in 2003 as Vice President of Support Services. After moving to Sedona, Terry worked as a consultant on the design and construction of the expansion at Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood. Terry enjoyed gardening and later became a Master Gardener in 2007. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, fishing, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Bill Stewart of Sedona, a son, Tom Pifer (Lisa) of Eager, AZ, step-daughter, Valerie Tansley (Frank) of Dana Point, CA, step-son Grant Stewart (Shane) of Minneapolis, MN, sisters Mary Young (John) of Cottonwood, AZ, Billie McBride (Jerry) of Prescott, AZ, Nancie Straughan (Michael) of Little Rock, AR, grandchildren Amy and Chaz Pifer of Eager, Todd Pifer of Flagstaff, step-grandchildren Joshua of Dana Point, Jordan, Megan and Sidney Stewart of Minneapolis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Most of all, Terry will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her. Memorial service will be held Friday, June 29, 2012, 11 a.m. at the Wayside Chapel in Sedona, AZ. Immediately following, interment will be at the Sedona Community Cemetery. In her memory, donations may be made to the Taylor House in Flagstaff or Northern Arizona Hospice in Cottonwood.
