Roger L. Grenier passed away peacefully at his home June 21, 2012 surrounded by family. Roger Louie Grenier was born June 20, 1934, to Gerard and Annonciade “Nancy” (Chenard) Grenier at Lewiston, Maine.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served in the Korean War on an aircraft carrier off the Korean Coast, and was then stationed in France as an interpreter. In 1955 after his military discharge, he married Germaine Nolette Nov. 24, 1955.
He moved his wife and son, Roger, along with his mother and father in law, to Los Angeles, Calif., in 1957. They settled in Inglewood after he became employed with the McCulloch Corp. After 13 years with the company, he relocated his family to Lake Havasu City in 1971, and continued working at “The Plant” until his retirement in 1997 after 37 years of service to the McCulloch Corp. In 1995 after 40 years of marriage, his wife Germaine passed away. Roger continued to live in the family home until his death.
He enjoyed boating on the Lake in the early years of Havasu. He also enjoyed his family and friends gathered around his backyard pool. He was a member of the Elks, VFW and American Legion.
Roger is survived by one daughter, Gisele (Tim) O’Connor, of Lake Havasu City; one grandson, Cody (Briana Mogulas) Westermeyer; one granddaughter, Carla Rae Westermeyer; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Westermeyer, all of Chandler, Ariz.; three sisters, Rachele Simard, Sylvia (Butch) LaBlanc and Celine (Duke) Duchette, all of Lewiston, Maine; a brother, Maurice Grenier, of Lewiston, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Germaine; sons, Roger Grenier and Carl Grenier; two sisters; one brother; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service will be at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Friday, at 1 p.m. A celebration of life will take place after the service at 2135 Runabout Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Havasu, 365 N. Lake Havasu Ave., LHC, AZ 86403.
