Lenore M. (Lonergan) Johnston died Monday the 25th of June, 2012 at Banner Gateway Hospital from a short battle with cancer. Born in 1941 in Milwaukee, WI, Lenore was the oldest of nine children of Nelson and Florence Lonergan, and the proud mother of four boys.
Lenore was a homemaker and a caregiver, helping hundreds of young and elderly over the years. She was especially proud of her 1987 national award by Sara-Care for being a “Living Example of Goodness.” Lenore, in later years, joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and moved to Mesa, AZ in 1997. Lenore was active in the church and loved helping people. She was a kind and generous soul.
She is survived by her four boys Tom, Bob, Peter and Andy; her eight brothers and sisters Margaret, John, Jim, Jane, Kathy, Tom, Richard and Michael; her six grandchildren April, Cody, Erin, Paul, Will and Riley; all of her loving Mesa church families and friends including Steve and Lanae Hooper and their five children Drew, Clayton, Maryn, Dallin and Emma; and her sponsor child Maria Nahas.
Services will be held on Friday, June 29th at the LDS Chapel at 1550 N. Val Vista Rd with visitation at 11:00 am and funeral at 12:00 noon. Memorial donations may be made to the LDS Philanthropies, 15 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84150 or www.ldsphilanthropies.com. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
