WERNER, Ona

The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Tuesday, June 26, 2012 Ona Werner, 97, of Sedona, died Wednesday June 20, 2012. She was born in Nebraska on January 7, 1915 to Roy and Lena Ready. She had been a resident of Sedona since 1962. Ona earned a BA from the University of Nebraska and an MBA from Northern Arizona University. Her long and diverse career included three years as a flight attendant, service in the military and with the Red Cross in Europe during and after WWII and 15 years teaching at Camp Verde High School until her retirement in 1977. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and is survived by her children, Lynn Huddleston of Chandler Heights, AZ and Bill Werner of Sedona. Her ashes will be placed with her husband’s at Fort Huachuca. She will be missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends and neighbors. No services are planned. Information provided by survivors.
