The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/29/2012 Levi W. Oveson, Sr., 85, of Mountain Home, Arkansas died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. He was born Aug. 12, 1926, in St. Johns to David P. and Annie (Jarvis) Oveson. Levi married Oleta P. Kinney Schuknecht Sept. 3, 1995, in Cedar City, Utah. He served in the United States Army. He was a retired school teacher who taught in California schools and also drove the Main Street Trolley and worked with animals at Disneyland. He enjoyed working with children and was a man who never met a stranger. He could light up a room with his presence. Levi is survived by his wife, Oleta Oveson of Mountain Home, Ark.; son Levi Oveson, Jr. of Highland, Calif.; daughter Kathy Badger (Steve) of Mesa; stepson Lt. Col. Mark Smith (Maria) of Lansing, Kansas; two step-daughters: Linda Heika (Bill) of Traverse City, Mich. and Nancy Ping (Larry) of Cedar City, Utah; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Avis Oveson, parents, three sisters and eight brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, St. Johns. Interment will follow the service at St. Johns Westside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of North Central Arkansas.
