BACA, Canderario (Sammy)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 06/29/2012 Canderario “Sammy” Baca, 69, died May 30, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Phoenix. He was born Feb. 2, 1943, and baptized in Tome, N.M. Sammy was raised since 1944 in Snowflake with parents Conie and Faustine Baca and five brothers and five sisters. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and was honorably discharged Dec. 23, 1967. Preceded him in death were his mother and father, Conie and Faustine Baca, sisters: Angie Duran, Regina Lavine; and brother Exie Baca. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Baca of Alburquerque, N.M.; sisters: Mela Micklus of Prescott, Rosie Gabaldon and Mary Ann Baca of Snowflake; brothers: Morris Baca of Colo., Ralph and Raymond Baca of Snowflake, and Roman Baca of Wisconsin and many first, second and third generation nieces and nephews throughout Arizona and relatives in New Mexico. Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at the Lady of the Snow Catholic Church in Snowflake. Sammy will be honored with a military service and laid to rest with family members in Snowflake, his wish. “We are grateful that Sammy has flown from this life to his rightful freedom.” His true contribution, humor and devotion to his family will be greatly missed.
