HICKS, James (Jim) Reed

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 07/03/2012 James “Jim” Reed Hicks, 84, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, in Mesa. He was born June 30, 1927, in Thayer, Missouri, the son of Harvey and Celesta (Walthall) Hicks. Jim served in the U.S. Navy in Japan and Korea. He was a long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Jim married Carol Anderson in 1962 in St. Johns, and they were sealed in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple one year later. Jim was retired from the Apache County Health Department. He was an avid reader, appreciated various types of music, and loved traveling with his beloved Kalo. Jim is survived by his daughter, Leslie Craith (Les) of Scottsdale; a son Ransom Hicks; a daughter Claire Hicks both of Mesa; and a sister Judy Dorris, Santa Teresa of N.M. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Hicks, parents and three sisters. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 p.m. before services. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of St. Johns.
