James Raymond Stewart, 87, resident of Concho Valley died June 22, 2012, at Sierra Blanca Rehabilitation of Alzheimers. He was born March 4, 1925, in Newark, New Jersey to James Raymond and Florence Elizabeth (Brown).
After receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, James served his country in the United States Army in WWII in the European theater. Retired from Oakland County, Michigan as a right-of-way agent, James moved to Arizona and began a second career working for the City of Mesa Public Works. James was an avid golfer and volunteered countless hours in support of the Big Ten Golf Tournament, PGA and LPGA and junior golf.
He is survived by his children: Barbara and Kirk Schroeder, Mary and Jack Springer, Douglas and Cindy Stewart; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by the love of his life, Verna and his son James.
Interment will be held at Snowflake Memorial Cemetery.
