West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona Friday, July 06, 2012 Socorro Dousten, 95, of Avondale died June 29, 2012, at Hospice of the Valley's Palm Valley Palliative Care Unit. Mrs. Dousten was born Dec. 15, 1916, in Sonora, Mexico, to Frank Saavedra and Ignacia Rios. She is survived by five children, Marty, Elly, Elvira, Frank and Victor. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. July 9 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road in Goodyear. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. July 10 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W. Thomas Road in Avondale, with interment to follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 4310 E. Southern Ave. in Phoenix. Memorials can be made to a St. Thomas Aquinas scholarship fund at 13720 W. Thomas Road, Avondale, AZ 85392. ~~~~~~~~~ Thompsons Valley West Funeral Chapel, Goodyear, Arizona Socorro Dousten, age 95, died at the Hospice of the Valley’s Palm Valley Paliative Care Unit on Friday, June 29, 2012 of natural causes with her family be her side. She was born December 15, 1916 in Sonora, Mexico to the late Frank Saavedra and Ignacia Rios. She is survived by her loving children Marty, Elly, Elvira, Frank and Victor and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are welcome to the visitation for Socorro will take place Monday evening July 9, from 5:00-9:00pm at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Rd., Goodyear, AZ. A funeral mass for Socorro will be held at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W. Thomas Rd., Avondale, AZ. Socorro will be laid to rest at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for St. Thomas Aquinas scholarship fund.
