Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Tuesday, July 10, 2012 Paul Pertuit Jr. was born on January 11, 1921 in Santa Rita, New Mexico. He passed away on July 5, 2012, in Sun Lakes, Arizona. Paul lived in Arizona since June 1922. He graduated from Yuma High School and attended NAU in Flagstaff. He served in WWII, graduated from Army Air Corps Navigation School in 1942, and was assigned as an instructor at the navigation school. He married October 3, 1942, to Mary Cecilia (Mollie) Raudebaugh. In January 1944, Paul was reassigned as navigator on Lt. Gen Harmon’s staff plane in the South Pacific. In October 1945, he returned to civilian life and ran his own insurance and real estate business in Flagstaff for 21 years. In 1946, he was appointed U.S. Commissioner for the Flagstaff area and held the position for 27 years. In 1966, he took a position with Transwestern Pipeline Co. Paul was highly respected in the business world and a community leader. He was a member of the Elks, Masonic Lodge, and Scottish Rite for over 50 years. Paul was also a member of Kiwanis for 21 years and served on the Flagstaff Hospital Board for 9 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. Paul loved visiting with friends and being with his family. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Mary Cecilia (Mollie), children: Paul Pertuit III and wife Rhoda Jane, Patricia Cummins and husband David, Peggy Morehouse and husband John, Perry Pertuit and wife Aida, four grandchildren: John, Shannon, Ann, and Jenny, and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on July 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Risen Savior Lutheran Church 23914 S. Alma School Road, Chandler, AZ 85248. In lieu of the flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of the Valley at 1510 E. Flower St, Phoenix, AZ 85014 or American Legion Post 35 at 2240 W. Chandler Blvd., Chandler, AZ 85224.
