GOOCH, William R.


William R. Gooch, born August 14, 1942 passed away March 28, 2004 at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Son of Arlo and Annalee Gooch, Bill grew up in Phoenix where he went to Phoenix Union High School, Phoenix College and ASU. He was married July 15, 1966 to Laurel Stapley in the Mesa Arizona Temple. He is the father of 6 children and 11 grandchildren. Bill has lived in Salt Lake City for the past 23 years. He has been a Bishop of the LDS Cottonwood Heights First Ward for the past five years. Bill was a friend to all he came in contact with. He was a successful businessman and devout husband, father and grandfather. He had served an LDS mission in Northern Mexico and was a faithful member all his life. Bill loved fishing, gardening and being in the outdoors. Bill is survived by his wife, Laurel, his children Stacy ( Brad ) Anderson, Rex (Jennifer), David (Sydne), Becky (Josh) Greene, Timothy, Taylor, 11 grandchildren, his mother Annalee and his brothers, Perry, Richard, John and Jim. Services were held at the Cottonwood Heights 1st Ward building in Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday, April 2nd. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request all donations go to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah. Published in the Arizona Republic on 4/1/2004.
