SAUER, Eugene George


Eugene George Sauer, 80, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2004 in Phoenix. A native of Phoenix, he was born December 19, 1923. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School and Phoenix College. He was a retired U.S. Navy Lieutenant and served in the Pacific with the SeaBees during WWII. Upon returning from active duty in 1946, Gene worked for Del Webb and then with Lescher-Mahoney. He later started the Gene Sauer Construction Company and practiced general contracting throughout the state of Arizona. He was a charter member of the Reserved Officers of the Navy Club, past president of the Arizona Building Contractors Association and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed being with his family, golfing, fishing, and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Nadine Cook, his three children, Nancy Weeks of Bend, Oregon, Gary Sauer of Cottonwood, Arizona and Karen Aldrich of Olympia, Washington, two sisters Pearl Bays and Lois Sauer, both of Phoenix, and sixteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Earnest Sauer. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 2nd, 2004 at Scottsdale Bible Chapel, 7901 E. Shea Boulevard.
