Eva Zorn Janetzky passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Flagstaff July 6, 2012. There will be a memorial for family and close friends at 11am, Sept 22, 341 David Dr. Flagstaff.
Eva was born in Innsbruck, Austria on Sept 13, 1921 to Hermann and Hermina Zorn and grew up in Vienna where she attended the Vienna School of Music. She escaped the holocaust and emigrated to the United States in 1939. In 1948 she met and married Bradley Janetzky. After moving to Arizona in 1953 they developed Kachina Subdivision in Sedona and started Janetzky Builders. In 1954 they moved to Flagstaff to raise their children.
Eva graduated from Arizona State College in 1963 with a Masters of Arts in Education. For many years she was the German teacher in the Flagstaff high schools. Many people who took German from her will remember her as Frau.
Eva enjoyed watercolor painting and was a member of a local group for many years. She loved the symphony and played piano in her home. Eva and Bradley were avid bridge players and both achieved their Masters. They enjoyed hiking, camping and traveling together until Bradley‘s death in 2005.
She is survived by her children, Karin Scanlon and Jineen Griffith, her grand children, Alissa Marquess, Scott Moore, Zoë Scanlon, and Erin Griffith. She also had five great grandchildren who had the privilege of knowing her as well as beloved nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who loved her.
