Esther M. Curran, 81, died at her home in Phoenix on March 31, 2004. In deed, a faithful servant of our loving Lord. Esther was born on November 16, 1922 in Xenia, IL. She retired in 2002, after owning and operating the Vocational Clearinghouse for 30 years. She was a 25 year member of the American Business Woman's Association, affiliated with the Turquoise Camel Chapter, where she had served as scrapbook chairman, Vice President, and program chairman. In 2000, her chapter honored her with the first ever Angel of the Year Award. She was a member of Ss Simon and Jude Cathedral and had worked with the bereavement committee. She enjoyed reading and playing bunco with friends. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Jenny Draper, four brothers: Paul, Nuel, Morris, and Austin, Jr., her husband of 52 years, Joseph Curran, and her son, James A. Curran. She is survived by her two sisters, Opal Stull, of Ransom, IL and Mary Ann Kapp of Aviston, IL, her three sons, Gerald, Robert, and Richard, daughter, Kathleen Russo, daughter-in-laws, Carolynn and Gail, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation, Sunday, April 4, 2004,with scripture service at A. L. Moore Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, 710 West Bethany Home Road. Mass of Resurrection was celebrated on Monday, April 5, 2004, at Ss Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 North 27th Avenue, Phoenix. Contributions may be made to the Curran Memorial Scholarship Fund, American Cancer Society, or Hospice of the Valley. Published in the Arizona Republic from 4/3/2004 - 4/4/2004.
