A gentleman and a gentle man, Thomas Emmanuel Ward, born July 25, 1913 died on July 15, 2012 at his home.
Tom, as he was known all of his life, was born in Fairmont, Minnesota to Albert and Fred A Ward.
At the age of 3, Tom’s family moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota. He graduated from St. Cloud High School in 1932 and moved to Minneapolis where he held various jobs before working at the Wilhason Pharmacy.
After leaving the pharmacy in 1938, Tom drove a truck for the Coca Cola Bottling Company.
Tom married Eleanor R Davis in 1940 and moved to Phoenix in 1952. Two daughters and a son were adopted, Susan, Kathryn, Kevin. Kathryn preceded him in death and Tom lost his beloved Eleanor after 51 years of marriage.
Tom worked as a school supervisor for Phoenix Union High School District for 26 years. After retiring in 1980, he moved to Cottonwood where he met Ethel McCoy. They were married March 18, 1993. Tom and Ethel moved to Camp Verde in 1993 and have since made their home there.
Tom grew up in a home with two brothers and three sisters, all of which have preceded him in death.
Tom is survived by his wife Ethel, daughter Susan, son Kevin (Cheryl), three grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial services will be held at the Bueler Camp Verde Chapel 10 a.m.. Friday July 20, 2012, 143 W Arnold St. Camp Verde Arizona 86322. Tom is to be laid to rest at Cottonwood Cemetery.
