OSTEBO, David (Dave)

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, July 18, 2012 David (Dave) Ostebo, age 69, passed away peacefully June 30 surrounded by family and friends after a short battle with brain cancer. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Roberta; son Eric (Christine) Ostebo of Fayetteville, Ga.; daughter Sheryl (Jim) McAdams of Loomis, Calif.; grandchildren Chelsea Ostebo of Columbia, S.C.; and Travis McAdams of Loomis, Calif. Dave was preceded in death by his father Richard, his mother Florence and sister Aljean Benson. Dave graduated from Humboldt State University in 1965 with a B.S. in forestry, served with the National Guard Reserve for six years and worked for Georgia Pacific Pulp Mill as quality controller in Arcata, Calif., from 1966-1972. Dave moved to Woodland, Calif., in 1973 where he joined the City of Woodland Fire Department, starting as a firefighter. He retired as fire marshal after 26 years. He had been enjoying his retirement in Wickenburg, Ariz., for the past 12 years with his wife Roberta. Dave was very much loved and respected by all who were blessed to know him, and he will be greatly missed. Dave had a passion for building anything and enjoyed working on his classic 1976 International Scout Traveler, going on road trips to visit family and friends, watching any competitive sport, and most recently going on cruises. But mostly, Dave had a long-time love for trains, and this love will be carried on by his grandson Travis for many years to come. Those who knew Dave knew he had to be doing something, always. Honoring Dave’s request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of the Valley, 14066 West Waddell Road, Surprise, AZ 85379.
