BAKER, Langdon Leroy


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Monday, July 16, 2012 - Langdon Leroy Baker was born Sept. 26, 1937, the second of eight children that filled the happy home of the late William Drake and Willie Viola Frances Harris. His wife Gloria Baker, daughter Melanie, son Prechea’ and brother Walter Sweets Sr. preceded him in death. Langdon was born in Los Angeles, Calif., where he attended 102nd Street Elementary School, Carver Jr. High School and Thomas Jefferson High School. In 1955 – 1963 Langdon actively served in the U.S. Air Force, where he became very proficient as a Communications Specialist and Cryptographic Maintenance Repairman. He continued until he was honorably discharged in 1963. He then became employed by a telephone company currently known as AT&T where he successfully continued his education to become a Telecommunication Safety Professional and Business Communication Systems Specialist. In 1974, he married Gloria and raised their family in Los Angeles, Calif. (Prechea’, Steven and Tracy). AT&T relocated him to Oahu, Hawaii; having the opportunity to lead and select his own specialized team to service all other telecommunication projects for AT&T. Langdon retired from AT&T; still residing in Oahu, Hawaii, he started his own consulting firm and consulted back to AT&T. The project was completed in 1996. Langdon moved to Henderson, Nev., and became a Realtor receiving his license in real estate. In 2009, Langdon and Gloria moved to Lake Havasu City to spend the rest of their lives together. Langdon was a very proud, private, quite, loving and kind man, very meticulous about his attire at all times. Langdon touched the hearts of everyone he knew and was loved dearly in return. He leaves to cherish his memories, daughter, Tracy Baker; son, Steven (Robyn); five grandchildren, Dominique Hegarty (Davery), Zebrano, Dov, Ocean Cree and Demetri; two great-grandchildren, Jaidyn and Jai Maree; three sisters, Barbara, Edith and Carmen; three brothers, Billy, Frank and Norman; nieces, nephews, family and friends.
