Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Tuesday, July 24, 2012 Joan Haydukovich, 79, died July 21, 2012. Rosary will be Wednesday at 7 p.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Winslow. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow service at Desert View Cemetery. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, celebrant, Father Frank Chacon. Joan Haydukovich passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on July 21,2012. Joan was a devoted wife for 59 years to Mike Haydukovich, and beloved mother of 10 children: Mary (Jim) Kriste, Brenda (John) Daly, Mark (Susan) Haydukovich, John (Elizabeth) Haydukovich, Jeanne (Mark) Oliva, Amy (Mack) Rhoades, Lori (Greg) Reents, Thomas Haydukovich, Steven (Darci) Haydukovich and Paul (Geeia) Haydukovich. She was the adored grandmother of 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Norma Jeanne Leonard and her brother Lawrence MacLean. She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Norman "Sandy" MacLean, her brother, Dan MacLean. Joan was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, September 15, 1932 and lived at the Ghost Ranch until the Depression brought her parents to Winslow, AZ. Joan attended Winslow High School graduating in 1950. She attended Teachers College in Flagstaff (now NAU) and St. Joseph's Nursing School in Phoenix, AZ from September 1951 to 1952. Joan married Mike on September 22,1953 and began an adventurous life as the wife of an Air Force pilot. Her nursing background helped her raise 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls. Joan's claim to fame was being a Harvey Girl at La Posada. She has been interviewed by the BBC and Arizona Highways for her place in history as a Harvey Girl. Joan was also an artist. She loved quilting and was an avid reader. Joan was a devout Irish Catholic who left us all the beautiful gift of faith. She will be forever in our hearts.
