SCHROCK, Walter Owen


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, July 25, 2012 Walter Owen Schrock, age 73, of both Congress, Ariz., and Dolores, Colo., passed away in Columbus, Ohio, Monday, July 16 after a very courageous battle against cancer. Walt was born Dec. 19, 1938, in Akron, Ohio, youngest child of the late George and Elizabeth Schrock. Walt graduated from Coventry High School and Ohio State University. He spent the majority of his career with Marion Power Shovel/ Dresser Industries in Marion, Ohio, and retired from Galion Dump Bodies in Winesburg, Ohio, in 2002. Walt was a fun, hardworking man who loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He also was an outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing and hunting. He had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of Wickenburg Bible Fellowship. Following Walt’s retirement, he became a full-time RVer, spending the winter months in Congress and the summer months in Dolores, Colo. During the summer, Walt enjoyed working at Mesa Verde National Park. He will be greatly missed by his children Robin and Russ (Joan) Schrock; step-children Kathy (Troy) Saladin and Kelly (Josh) Bowcott; grandchildren Spencer, Ian, and Hunter Schrock, Mason and Logan King, Britni Saladin, and Zachery and Hannah Bowcott; siblings Jeanette Oser and Robert (Virginia) Schrock; previous wives Anita Myers and Jo Schrock; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Per Walt’s wishes, a private family service will be held in Columbus, Ohio. A public service celebrating Walt’s life will be held at a later date in Arizona.
