Nelson - Boylan - LeRette Funeral Chapel Red Oak, Iowa Edward 'Clair' Johnson, age 95, of Sun City, Arizona formerly of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the Sunview Care Center in Youngstown, Arizona after an extended illness. Edward 'Clair' Johnson was born January 23, 1909 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Edward and Blanche (Wieland) Johnson. He graduated from Red Oak High School and was united in marriage to Ruth Hill on January 4, 1935 in Red Oak, Iowa. He served in the military during World War II. Clair and Ruth lived many years in Los Angeles, California where Clair worked in the Banking Business. They moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1974 after retirement. Ruth preceded Clair in death on October 12, 1991. Also preceding him in death were his parents; 2 sisters: Bernice Bergren; and Maxine Bender; nephew: Dick Bergren; and brothers-in-law: Glen Bergren and Arthur Bender. Survivors include his nieces: Debra Swanson and husband Lynn of Clinton, Iowa; and Betsy Meyers of Perry, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday, September 23, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
