Donald G. Snyder, 79, passed away July 16, 2012, after a long illness.
He was born in Groton, S.D., Aug. 3, 1932. His parents were Ralph and Madelin Snyder. He was the third of four sons.
He was an athlete, Army lieutenant, educator, coach and a generous man. He taught at various schools in Soutn Dakota, and worked for South Dakota Services for the blind. He struggled with bi-polar disorder for almost all of his adult life.
He enjoyed helping people reach for their lives' potential by encouraging them to think about their options and desires. He would challenge people so as to help them clarify their goals in life. He would pick up hitchhikers and treat them to a meal or give them some money.
He is survived by brothers, Bob and George Snyder; children, Loring Kendal and Lisa Snyder; two grandsons, Avery and Keaton Snyder. He will be remembered by the many friends he made while he lived and helped on this earth. He will be missed.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Care Home Chapel, 1030 Scott Drive, Prescott, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to the Good Samaritan Care Home Employee Fund.
