RESENDES, Maria Soledad Becerra

West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona Tuesday, July 31, 2012 Maria Soledad Becerra Resendes, 76, of Buckeye died July 24, 2012, at Hospice of the Valley from leukemia. Mrs. Resendes was born Aug. 20, 1935, in Hanover, N.M. She moved to Arizona 56 years ago. She managed two businesses and was appointed to the Board of Education in the late '70s and early '80s. She worked as a counselor and as an instructor for English as a second language. For the last 10 years, she worked for H&R Block. She is survived by four daughters, Maria Dolores of Surprise, Merlinda of El Mirage, Marita B. of Coolidge and Maura Viola of Coolidge; two sons, Luis B. of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Lee Mariano; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A service will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Santa Teresita Church, 14016 N. Verbena St. in El Mirage. Memorials can be sent to the Leukemia Foundation at leukemiafoundation.org. Funeral arrangements were made by Palm View Mortuary.
