Haltom December 10, 1925 ~ July 25, 2012 Geraldine Janice (Rogers) Haltom was born on December 10, 1925, and left us on July 25, 2012 at sunset after a long bout with Alzheimer's. Mom would never admit she was actually born in Oklahoma as she was only there for her arrival. She grew up in Fort Stockton, Texas where she also met and married George H. Haltom, Jr. (a Navy man in World War II). While stationed in California they had their first child, Toletha Jeannene, moved back to El Paso, Texas, created three sons, George H. Haltom, III (Trey), Rodney Paige, and Charles Michael (Corky). George needed to live in California for work as an Electronic Engineer, so they moved to San Fernando, California in the mid 1950's. Robin Lee, Mitchell Allen, and Victor Pallet (Topper) were born. So, all together that was seven children. After many years of being the best mother a child could ask for, Jeri decided she wanted to buy a beautiful house on the hill - so, since the "kids" were all "grown up enough", she decided to go "Postal" (worked for Post Office) for a while - met many great friends and discovered a new love, Real Estate. Jeri was a top salesperson for Century 21 and eventually became a Broker out on her own, and started her company "Jeri-Go-Round Realty". Always innovative, George and Jeri forged on in a depressed economy. Returned to Texas for a brief year or two in Del Rio with "Canoga Boat Company" (Dad's hydroplane boats) and then back again to Southern California in 1972. Daddy died in California in 1993, Mom moved to Arizona in 1994, and had lived here since then. Jeri was always active in the community with Women's Clubs, Churches, Toastmasters, Friends of the Library, Friends of Tosca, Bridge Clubs, just to name a few. She had a couple of adopted children she supported from afar whom she never got to meet - she just sent the money to help out. Her heart was bigger than Texas and she was as strong as woman could be. Throughout all her trials in life, she still managed to lift the spirits of the downtrodden. Many were brought to the Lord Jesus because of Mom's prayers and persistence. Following the loss of four children (Mitch, Topper, Corky, Jeannene) and her husband, George; Geraldine is survived by sons Trey, and Rod, and daughter Robin. Not to mention the 26 Grandchildren and about 16 Great Grandchildren (at last count). Jeri will be greatly missed by all of us. She is loved by everyone her life ever touched. Interment services will be held Tuesday, July 31st at 2:00 pm at Oakwood Memorial Cemetery in Chatsworth, CA. A Memorial Services will be held at a later date, please visit www.LakeshoreMort.com for service information and to share memories of Geraldine with her family.
