Ramona Mae Baker, 77, of Ackley passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012, at her home in Ackley.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30am Monday, July 23, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.
Friends may call from 4 to 7pm Sunday, July 22, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton. Chaplain Rev Father Jerome N Baker will officiate the service.
Ramona was born on December 6, 1934, in Mason City to Fitch and Edna (Turner) Bailey. Ramona graduated from Mason City High School and attended Mason City Junior College. She was united in marriage to Curtis Leroy Baker on June 6, 1954, in Mason City, Iowa. They were married for 58 years. Ramona was a homemaker, raising five daughters, and worked at various manufacturing jobs. She attended services at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason City. Ramona and Curtis enjoyed flying in their homebuilt LongEZ across the country on several different occasions and to Alaska twice. She enjoyed visiting her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all over the United States and she was very active in attending their various events. Ramona and Curtis spent several winters in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mona's cure all was a good chocolate bar, one of her passions in life. LeRoy would say, "We are off an another great adventure," and Mona would reply, "This is another fine mess you got us into," and giggle.
Ramona is survived by her husband, Curtis Leroy Baker of Ackley; daughter Mitzi Pennington and husband Randy of Chicago, Ill., daughter Jamie Porter and husband Lynn of Geneva, daughter Lisa Baker of Scottsdale, Ariz., daughter Carrie Thomas and husband Dennis of Mesa, Ariz., daughter Heidi Brunetti and husband Steve of Wickenburg, Ariz; grandson H Curtis Goettsch and wife Sarah of Elkader, grandson G Michael Gruber and fiancee Tracy Gillespie of Scottsdale, grandson Terence Goettsch and wife Stephanie of Burleson, Texas, granddaughter Missy Mickelson and husband James of Glendale, Ariz., granddaughter Ashley Goettsch and fiancee Andrew Duggan of York, Pa., granddaughter Meagan Gruber and fiance Matt Tallis of Phoenix, Ariz., granddaughter Lindsey Hendrix and fiance Craig Veatch of Phoenix, grandson Kyle Porter of Geneva, and great-grandchildren Kaylei, Kacey and Audrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fitch and Edna; brothers Donavon, Leonard, Raymond, Robert and Jerry; and sisters Margorie, Rovyne and Janice.
