The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Tuesday, August 07, 2012 Therese Anne Reilly Oostermeyer passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2012 with her oldest son by her side. Therese was the third of six children born to Philip and Lillian (King) Reilly in San Francisco, California. Therese married Jan Stuart Oostermeyer, a college friend of her older brother Phil, on June 16, 1951. They divorced in 1965. For over 20 years, Therese was a state-certified substance abuse counselor at the Alpha Oaks Center in Fair Oaks, California. Upon her retirement in 2003, Therese relocated to Cottonwood to be near her sister Lillian Watkins. She was an avid bridge player and participated in many bridge groups in Cottonwood. Therese and Lil traveled the world together until Lil's death in 2010. Therese is survived by her sister Margaret Mary Thomas; three sons Jan Andrew, Peter Michael and Thomas Philip (Darlene); one granddaughter Grace Oostermeyer; one grandson Jan Michael (Chase) Oostermeyer and two great-granddaughters, Maya and Amara. A gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 5:00-6:00pm at Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Ave. Cottonwood. A private inurnment service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, California at a later date. A special thank you goes to Rick Peterson at Verde Valley Medical Center. Laura with Northern Arizona Hospice provided wonderful end-of-life services and the family is very appreciative for their care of Therese.
