The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Tuesday, August 07, 2012 Alana Jessop Merrill, 66, of Dewey, Ariz., lost her courageous battle with cancer on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012. By her side was her husband of 21 years, David Merrill, her sister Trudy, and her beloved dogs, Frankie and Noel. Alana was born to Allan and Bernice Jessop on Jan. 30, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Alana and David were married on July 5, 1991, in Pacific Grove, Calif. Most of her career was spent in sales and marketing. Currently, she was semi-retired and living in Dewey, Ariz. Alana will best be remembered for her giving nature, artistic talent and vivacious spirit. She was preceded in death by both parents. Survivors include her husband, David; son Garret (Gary) Stephen and partner Catherine (Cat) of Lawndale, Calif.; stepdaughter Teresa Winn and her husband Matt of Salem, Ore.; stepdaughter Michell Gunn and her husband Dennis of St. Louis, Mo.; and stepson James Merrill and his wife Shawna of Amarillo, Texas. She was also the proud grandmother of Andrew and Chris Phillips of St. Louis, Mikah Merrill of Amarillo, Texas; and great-granddaughter Amaya Phillps of St. Louis. Alana was also survived by seven siblings, Janice Bratt, LaMont Jessop and his wife Anita, Trudy Kanahele, Mark Jessop and his wife Judy, Leland Jessop and his wife Irene, Greg Jessop and his wife JoAnn, Jeff Jessop; as well as her sister-in-law Kerry Watkins. She was also survived by countless nieces and nephews as well as treasured friends. Services are pending at this time. Information provided by survivors.
