BURT, Launa

(Maiden Name: Brady)

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, August 08, 2012 Launa Burt was called home on Monday, Aug. 6 after a long illness, where she is now in the arms of God. Launa was an Arizona native. She was born in Williams, Ariz., on Nov. 30, 1957. She grew up in Flagstaff, where she attended high school. After high school she married John Girvin and they had four children together, Tanya, Chad, Brandy and Travis. In 1991 she met her current husband Jim, and they moved to Wickenburg, where he began employment with and still works at Wickenburg Concrete, now Hanson Aggregates. In December 1996, their daughter Jamie Charlene was born. Launa loved life and embraced it, even though poor health eventually slowed her down. Even so, she never lost her sense of humor, and always enjoyed a funny story or a good joke. Her light-hearted spirit and hearty laugh will be remembered when we think of Launa. Launa and her husband Jim and their daughter Jamie have loved living on their ranch in Forepaugh, Ariz., and have enjoyed all of their animals -- horses, cattle, goats, chickens, dogs and cats. They have enjoyed their many friends and acquaintances developed over the years. She adored her children and grandchildren, and the many holidays and special times when most or all of them would come to Wickenburg to enjoy each other and celebrate life. One of her fondest joys was watching her young daughter Jamie, who is now a 15-year-old sophomore at Wickenburg High School, compete in horse shows, barrel racing and pole bending events. Launa is survived by her husband Jim, daughters Jamie Charlene Burt, Tanya Girvin Moyer (Wayne), and Brandy Girvin; sons Chad Girvin (Kelli), and Travis Girvin (Salyna), all of Flagstaff; and stepdaughters Brandi Burt of Gilbert, Ariz., and Jacquelyn Burt (Tanner) of Wickenburg. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Anthonie; Brittany, Aubrey, Ashley, and Josh, Makayla and Ethan; Taylor and Bailey; Arynn and Sean; Jayden; and Landon and Annabelle. Launa also leaves her sisters Marisui of Washington, Phyllis of Phoenix, and Betty of California; and sisters-in-law Charlene Burt Brungs, and Cleo Johnson of Phoenix, as well as many nieces, nephews and her dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father William Brady, mother Rachel Brady, and sister Pamela. Services will be held at David’s Desert Chapel in Wickenburg on Sunday (Aug. 12) at 1 p.m. Online condolences can be sent to www.davidsdesertchapelfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
