Gloria Rose Johnson Moss Lee passed Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Heritage Health Care. She was born in Bowie, Ariz. on Feb. 9, 1928 to Mittie and W.C. Johnson.
Gloria graduated from Miami High School in 1944. After graduation, she married her childhood sweetheart, William Gordon Moss, whom she met in fifth grade. Soon after, Gordon joined the Navy. Gloria attended and graduated from Lamson Business College.
When Gordon returned from the Navy, they settled in Miami, where their two sons were born. When the mines in San Manuel opened up they were some of the first to live there. Eventually, they returned to the Globe-Miami area. Gloria was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Order of the Eastern Star and Miami Divine Grace Presbyterian Church.
She worked locally for many years at the Coors Distributors, KIKO Radio, Palace Pharmacy, and Lavender Tree in Miami. Her last job was at United Jewelry working with her dear friend, Mary Bernstein.
A vibrant member of the community, she will be missed by family and friends.
Survivors include sons, William Gordon Moss, Jr. (Mary Lou) of Globe, Ariz. and John Thomas Moss of Grady, Ark.; three grandchildren, William G. Moss III of Globe, Ariz., Holly Ann Moss of Globe, Ariz. And Louise Wallace of Prescott, Ariz.; and five great-grandchildren, Brooke, Shelby, Madison, Ivy, and Jason.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Summer Youth Musical and Theater Program at the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts in Globe.
Services for Gloria Rose Johnson Moss Lee will be on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at 9 a.m. at Miles Mortuary in Miami, Ariz.
